Video: Teammates erupt in raucous celebration for Brandon Moreno’s UFC 263 title win
While the MMA world universally praised Brandon Moreno’s flyweight title win this past weekend, it pales in comparison to the reaction inside his gym in Tijuana.
The championship rematch between Moreno and now former champion Deiveson Figueiredo served as the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC 263 event in Glendale, Ariz. After a Fight of the Year contender in their first meeting at UFC 256 in December that ended in a majority draw, Moreno dominated and submitted Figueiredo with a rare naked choke in the third round to capture his first UFC world title.
It was a memorable moment inside the Gila River Arena, but the Entram Gym erupted with excitement after Moreno got the tap. Check out the video of his team’s reaction below.

“The Assassin Baby” had a storybook road to the flyweight title. After competing on season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter, where he was the No. 16 seed before losing to Alexandre Pantoja in his first fight of the season, Moreno submitted Louis Smolka in his promotional debut two months before the TUF 24 Finale even took place. Moreno won his first three octagon appearances before dropping back-to-back decisions to Pantoja and Sergio Pettis that led to him being released from the promotion.
After capturing the LFA flyweight title with a TKO win at LFA 79, Moreno rejoined the UFC roster and fought Askar Askarov to a short notice draw in a fight many believe the first Mexican-born UFC champion won. He would go on to win his next three fights—including a first-round TKO win over Brandon Royval at UFC 255 to earn his championship opportunities.
