The UFC is looking for a welterweight to replace Ramazan Emeev against Warlley Alves on June 26, MMA Fighting has learned from people with knowledge of the shift. It’s unclear what led to Emeev’s withdrawal from UFC Vegas 30.
UFC Vegas 30 takes place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas and airs live on ESPN+. The Fight Night card is headlined by Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov.
Emeev (20-4), a former M-1 middleweight champion, was looking for his third straight victory in the UFC following decisions over Niklas Stolze and David Zawada, which boosted his overall octagon record to 5-1.
Alves, who’s 14-4 as a pro is coming off a bonus-winning knockout over Mounir Lazzez in January, the sixth stoppage victory for the Brazilian in the octagon. Alves holds notable submission wins over Colby Covington and Nordine Taleb.
Winner of the third season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil as a middleweight in 2014, Alves won eight of 12 under the company’s banner, plus three victories during the reality show.
