For the second straight fight, Kennedy Nzechukwu has rebounded from early trouble to finish his opponent. This time, he stopped Danilo Marques with a flurry of unanswered punches just 20 seconds into the third round of their UFC Vegas 30 bout.
Marques smothered Nzechukwu in the first round of their preliminary-card bout, hanging on the back of his foe and threatening several chokes before the end of the frame. It looked like Nzechukwu’s grappling would be his downfall.
But in the second, Nzechukwu fought hands and got space to work his punches, aided by Marques’ flagging energy levels. And in the third and final frame, Marques wasn’t ready for a blitz of shots that had him covering up for dear life. Seeing no intelligent defense, referee Jason Herzog stopped the contest for the TKO finish in favor of Nzechukwu.

What a comeback!

The fight marked Nzechukwu’s fourth UFC appearance, and it came after he was badly outstruck by City Kickboxing product Carlos Ulberg at UFC 259. Nzechukwu survived to catch Ulberg clean with a right hand that laid him out in the second round of the fight.
Nzechukwu has now won three straight in the UFC, while Marques goes back to the drawing board after a pair of wins in his first two octagon appearances.
