At 40 years old, Matt Brown just picked up one of his most vicious finishes to date.
Taking on a former pupil from The Ultimate Fighter in Dhiego Lima, Brown was on the attack from the second the fight started but it was a brutal right hand in the middle of an exchange that finished the fight in devastating fashion. As soon as Brown connected with the punch, Lima crumbled to the ground as the fight was stopped immediately with the end coming at 3:02 in the second round.
“Not bad for a 40 year old man from small town Ohio,” Brown said after his latest win. “I seen he drops his left a lot after the jab. Day one kind of set up stuff.
“I love Dhiego. Hope nothing but the best for him. I didn’t want to do that to him but that’s the game we play.”

Methodical at the start, Brown was targeting the body with a series of kicks while still moving forward with a signature aggression that has been a hallmark of his entire UFC career. In return, Lima began blasting away at Brown with a series of brutal calf kicks that left a noticeable red welt forming on his lead leg.
In order to avoid those kicks, Brown started to stay lighter on his feet and looking to close the distance, which then led to Lima looking for the takedown against the cage. Brown did a good job shrugging him off as he reset in the center of the cage and began throwing his combinations again.
Thanks to Brown cutting off the cage and giving Lima little room to breathe, “The Immortal” was able to set up the fight finishing shot by using his opponent’s momentum against him.
As soon as Lima began throwing his left jab, Brown launched the right hand that ended his night.
After suffering back-to-back losses in the octagon, Brown got back on track with his victory on Saturday night while now tying Vitor Belfort and Derrick Lewis for the most knockouts in UFC history with 12 in total.
