UFC Vegas 29 results: ‘The Korean Zombie’ holds off Dan Ige to win decision

“The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung just won a unanimous decision over Dan Ige in the UFC Vegas 29 main event.

The UFC Vegas 29 main event witnessed the promotion’s #4 ranked featherweight, Chan Sung Jung, take a unanimous decision over the #8 ranked, Dan Ige. “The Korean Zombie” scored an early knockdown in the second round, and also got the best of Ige in the wrestling and grappling departments. Zombie keeps his position atop the featherweights, stays in title contention, and proves why he is still one of the very best in the world.

Ige showcased his speed right away, pumping out volume while Zombie was spending a to of time waiting. A big leaping left hand got through for Ige, prompting Zombie to change levels and snag a takedown. Zombie tried to lock down top position, but Ige was able to maneuver his way back to his feet. The rest of there round was a bit sticky, with neither man really opening up.

Zombie dropped Ige with the first combination he threw in the second act. Ige stood right up, seeming to have recovered, and got to throwing back. He was pumping his jab, while Zombie was looking to counter. Ige shot in for a takedown, but Zombie fought hard to stay on his feet. Several leg kicks landed for Zombie, causing some redness on the calf of Ige. Another takedown attempt from Ige came, but Zombie fought it off again and worked for one of his own. The round ended with Zombie on the back.

Zombie hit an early takedown to get things going in the third stanza. He worked his way to the back, and kept Ige defending. Several RNC attempts were tried, forcing Ige to work hard to stay out of trouble. Ige did not return to his feet until the round was over. The fourth frame spent a lot more time on the feet. Ige went back to his volume based attack that he deployed at the start of the opening round. Zombie sat back on the counter, but Ige was landing. Ige was definitely fighting harder this round, but Zombie caught a kick and took top position with about one-minute to go in the round. Ige stayed on his back until the bell.

Ige showed some urgency in the final round, attacking Zombie with body shots and hooks to the head. Zombie began shooting for takedowns, but Ige fought off the attempt and stayed vertical. Ige even worked for a takedown of his own, but Zombie wasn’t having it. Zombie landed a knee before scrambling to the back yet again, and maintaining control until the final horn.
